Cyclones wrap up season at regionals; several golfers earn honors
With a few surges and drops throughout the season, the Cyclones ended their run in the NJCAA Region IV tournament. They wanted to go further, but played well in conference and saw a few players earn accolades.
Rough run at regionals
For the Cyclones, the Region IV tournament (Oct. 3-5) at PrairieView Golf Course in Byron, Illinois, was their biggest event of the season. They worked hard toward this three-day tournament, but encountered some bumps in the road for a ninth place finish.
Test run
The Cyclones had a taste of what to expect at regionals next weekend after squeezing in 18 holes before the weather turned at the PrairieView Classic at the PrairieView Golf Club in Byron, Illinois.
Runners up, and medals for Bennett and Douglas
A few key players helped the Cyclones seal a second place overall finish in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference along with some honors at the Cyclones’ home course at Cog Hill.
A 15th place finish at Illinois Valley Classic
The Cyclones had split performances during the Illinois Valley Classic, finishing 15th overall.
Best round yet
For their fourth conference match of the season, the Cyclones played their collective best round of golf for a second place finish at Elgin Community College’s Randall Oaks Golf Course.
Thwarted by one...again
For the second straight conference match, the Cyclones missed second place by one stroke. They competed at Pine Meadow Golf Club, taking third place.
Cyclones consistent at Duane Chanay Invite
The Cyclones are still working out the kinks but played a solid 18 for a 10th place finish at the Duane Chanay Classic Invitational at the Byron Hills Golf Course.
One stroke away
Just one stroke separated the Cyclones from second place at their Skyway Conference match at Blackberry Oaks Golf Course.
Good start in Skyway play
In their first Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference outing Aug. 28, the Cyclones took second place, a huge first step of the season, as three golfers finished in the top 10.

Working their nerves out, the Cyclones competed in their first tournament, the Highland 36, where they finished 10th overall.
