Splitsville for Cyclones

A Moraine Valley infielder gets ready to throw the ball to first base.

The Cyclones had a decent outing with Kankakee Community College, splitting the doubleheader.

GAME ONE
It was a pitcher's duel with Brooklynn Sedlak taking the mound for Moraine Valley. However, it was the Cavaliers that had the edge as they dealt the Cyclones a 3-1 loss.

A ground out by Sedlak put the Cyclones on the board in the top of the third, but after that, the Cavaliers took the lead and stunted Moraine Valley at the plate. Londynn Sedlak (1-for-3, 3B), Jill Zodrow (1-for-3, 2B) and Haley Tracy (1-for-3) each collected one hit this game. Brooklynn Sedlak allowed six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out three and walking one.

GAME TWO
The Cyclones found their batting strength in later innings in this matchup for the 6-2 victory.

Although the Cavaliers scored first, Abbey Mrskos (1-for-3, RBI) tied the game in the fourth with an RBI single down the right field line. The Cyclones took the lead an inning later when Brooklynn Sedlak (2-for-4) doubled to score one. Then a home run to center field from Tracy (1-for-3, 3 RBIs) extended the lead to 4-1. The Cavaliers scored one more time, but the Cyclones added some insurance in the seventh after Tracy grounded out but scored a run and Megan Hackett (2-for-3, RBI) hit a hard single to score the final run.

Abbie Trendle stepped in the circle for the Cyclones, giving up just three hits and two runs over four and one-third innings while striking out one.
