Achievements

The Moraine Valley baseball program boasts two former players who moved on to Major League Baseball, including Bobby Madritsch (1997-98), who played for the Seattle Mariners starting in 2005, and pitcher Brian Loconsole (2010), who was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 20th round of the 2013 MLB draft. Loconsole pitched for the Windy City Thunderbolts (2016-17), Lincoln Saltdogs (2018) and Les Capitales de Quebec (2018).

A baseball player rounding third base. During his freshman year (2025-26), Valente Melero broke a Cyclones record for hitting 14 homeruns in a season. He also batted .439 with 46 RBIs, 50 runs and 16 doubles. He was named to the All-Conference second team and All-Region first team and ranked No. 21 in the NJCAA Division II for his batting average.

After the 2025-26 season, the Cyclones had a collective .327 batting average with 53 homeruns and a .512 slugging percentage. The team was ranked No. 20 in the NJCAA Division II for doubles (121).

 In his freshman season (2024-25), Andrew Phelan stole 38 bases, which ranked him No. 20 in the NJCAA Division II. He earned All-Region 4 second team and All-Conference first team.

Head Coach Al Budding (1987-2005) was inducted into the Cyclone Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020.

Early in the 2024 spring season, sophomore Jack Hoh was ranked as high as No. 3 in NJCAA Division II for his batting average (.475). He ended the season with a .386 average, 28 RBIs, 17 doubles, four homeruns and 54 hits.

Former southpaw Austin Wallace was an All-Conference player at Moraine Valley in 2011 before joining the Coastal Carolina University pitching squad where he posted a 2.90 ERA in 2012.

Loconsole finished his season as a Cyclone in 2010 with a 3.06 ERA before throwing for Western Illinois University.

Former baseball player Mike Madsen and former Head Coach Al Budding traveled to Prague, Czech Republic, in June 2003 to compete in a tournament during Prague Baseball Week. They represented the United States on U.S.A. Athletes, a college all-star team based out of Kansas City.

In 1993, pitcher Jim Jasper and centerfielder Ed Scopelitis participated in VII Festival Olimpico de Beisbol in Jalisco, Mexico. Head Coach Al Budding was the third base coach for Team U.S.A., which finished with a bronze medal.

The 2011-12 baseball team finished 26th in NJCAA Division II in team batting average with a .324.
