Cyclones display resilience in hard‑fought playoff matchup

The Cyclones started their playoff run against Highland Community College, a team they had swept barely a week earlier. However, this latest battle saw Moraine Valley fall 9-4 late in the game.

The Cougars got on the board first before the Cyclones tied it 4-4 after the seventh and eighth innings. Joshua Keller hit a sac fly that scored a run and Michael Fiedor (1-for-5, RBI) hit an RBI single in the seventh. In their next at-bat Valente Melero (2-for-3) walked and Aiden Radtke (2-for-5) hit a double before Jared Velez hit a hard grounder and reached base on a fielding error that scored two more runs.

However, it was the Cougars' next at-bat that did the Cyclones in. With two outs, the Cyclones allowed two walks, had a fielding error and then the Cougars capitalized on that with some hits to retake the lead. Moraine Valley was unable to get on base one more time for the ultimate loss.
