Cyclones rally late to defeat Chiefs, sweep series on Sophomore Day

For the second time in two days, the Cyclones defeated Waubonsee Community College, taking the 7-5 victory on Sophomore Day.

The Moraine Valley baseball sophomores. The Cyclones recognized their 16 sophomores before the start and then went to work. This game, it was Michael Swatkowski who was a beast at the plate, going 4-for-4 with three singles and a double.

The Chiefs were in the lead, 5-2, until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Cyclones jumped ahead. Valente Melero (2-for-4) started the inning with a single before Christian Deshazer walked (2-for-3, RBI). Aiden Radtke (1-for-4, RBI) drove in one run on a line drive to right field before Swatkowski singled to load the bases. Aidan Roessler hit a sac fly to score one run and Joshua Keller singled to score the go-ahead run. Deshazer added some insurance in his next at-bat with an RBI single.

Lucas Hicks started the game from the bump, allowing six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six. In relief, Ryan Burke earned the win, giving up four hits and no runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three.
