Moraine Valley started with a big six-run second inning that started with singles from Carlos Flores (3-for-5, RBI) and Jared Velez (2-for-4) before Lucas Hicks (2-for-4, 3 RBIs) brought them both around the bags with a homerun to left field. After that, Michael Swatkowski (2-for-4), Andrew Phelan (2-for-5, 2 RBIs) and Michael Fiedor (3-for-5, RBI) singled to load the bases before Valente Melero (3-for-5, 4 RBIs) drove in two runs on a hard single. Christian Deshazer (2-for-4, RBI) drove in one more run on a line drive.
The Chaparrals tied the game by the top of the fifth before the Cyclones scored two more off a triple from Phelan. Moraine Valley scored four more runs after that – RBI single from Flores, RBI double from Fiedor and two-run homerun from Melero – to tie the game 12-12. However, the Chaparrals bounced back in the final two innings, collecting seven runs to deal Moraine Valley the loss.
