On a warm day with the wind blowing out, the Cyclones collected 35 runs in their split with Carl Sandburg College.
GAME ONE
Valente Melero (4-for-4, 7 RBIs) had three homeruns and Christian Deshazer (2-for-5, 5 RBIs) had two in this game in the Cyclones' 26-14 rout of the Chargers.
Moraine Valley had 19 hits to the Chargers' 10 in the high-scoring affair. They opened scoring in the first off a solo homerun from Melero and a two-run bomb from Deshazer to go up 3-0. However, the Chargers had a five-run inning in their first at-bat to take the lead.
The Cyclones battled back, scoring six runs after Andrew Phelan (1-for-4, 2 RBIs) hit an RBI double, Melero belted a three-run homerun and Deshazer hit a two run bomb. It wasn't until the 15-run fourth inning that really gave Moraine Valley the edge. Among the hits that inning were RBI singles from Steven Toth (2-for-5, RBI), Jared Velez (3-for-3, 5 RBIs) and Joshua Keller (2-for-4, RBI), a two-run double by Aiden Radtke (2-for-3, 2 RBIs) and homeruns from Velez and Melero.
Jack Callejo earned the win for the Cyclones, allowing five hits and seven runs over three and one-third innings, striking out five and walking two.
GAME TWO
Although the Cyclones out-hit the Chargers, they lost the affair 12-9.
The Chargers led early, but the Cyclones took a lead in the third on five runs to score four, including a two-run homerun from Michael Fiedor (2-for-5, 2 RBIs). Moraine Valley had to take back the lead again in the fourth inning and did so with another solo homerun from Melero (2-for-2, RBI). However, a big seven-inning for the Chargers pushed the game ahead and the Cyclones were unable to catch up despite some additional runs off RBI doubles from Deshazer (2-for-4, 3 RBIs), Lucas Hicks (2-for-4, RBI) and Dylan Hullinger (1-for-2, RBI).
