With every conference game posing some importance in the standing, the Cyclones were happy they took one of two with Oakton College.
GAME ONE
The Cyclones were victorious against the Owls in the first game, winning 7-3.
Oakton opened the scoring in the first inning before the Cyclones flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 5-3 lead. The bases were loaded after Michael Fiedor (1-for-4) got on from a fielding error, Andrew Phelan (1-for-4) singled and Valente Melero (1-for-2) walked. Christian Deshazer (2-for-4, 4 RBIs) knocked in two runs after driving a long double to center field then Aiden Radtke (2-for-4, 3 RBIs) cleared the bases with a homerun to left field. Deshazer knocked in the final two runs in the top of the seventh with a line drive double to left field.
Brandon Elting earned the win for the Cyclones, allowing five hits and three hits (one earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking two.
GAME TWO
The Cyclones had a tougher time in the next game, earning just three hits in the 14-2 loss.
The Owls had a big third inning where they collected seven runs. The Cyclones earned both runs in the bottom of the fourth after Deshazer, Radtke and Joshua Keller walked before Jared Velez (1-for-2, 2 RBIs) singled in the runs. Phelan (1-for-1) singled in the first and Steven Toth (1-for-3) earned the other hit this game.
