Defense was lights out between the Cyclones and the national ranked Bryant and Stratton College Bobcats. It was only in the final minutes of the NJCAA Region 4 semifinals where the Cyclones were undone.
Both teams were battling for the win, evidenced by pressure on both ends of the court, missed shots and a 0-0 score until two minutes into the action. TJ Lee got the Cyclones on the board first and a 10-0 run plus missed free throws by the Bobcats extended their lead. However, the Bobcats never gave up, clawing back within one point as the Cyclones had a few turnovers in the minutes before halftime.
The defense continued to force turnovers for both teams, but the Cyclones were able to put up an 11-0 run on three-pointers and free throws from Reggie Strong and Lee. That lead was short-lived. Moraine Valley struggled to land shots in the last five minutes, falling behind with less than three minutes in the game. A three-pointer from Strong brought the Cyclones within two points in the last 33 seconds, but a string of fouls allowed the Bobcats to score enough free throws to end Moraine Valley's season with a 58-53 loss.
Strong finished with 17 points, 15 of which were from three-pointers, and Lee had 12 points.
