Every win the Cyclones bring home lends to more preparation for the upcoming region tournament. Their latest 8-1 victory last night came against College of DuPage.
The Chaparrals were down a few players to start, giving Moraine Valley an early 3-0 lead. At first singles, Brooke Zielke won 6-0, 6-4 after battling back in a second set that saw her down 3-4. Jasmine Abunaim shut down her opponent (6-2, 6-0) at second singles. Serene Itani lost a heartbreaking match at third singles, fighting through a super tiebreaker (6-2, 3-6, 8-10). Mary Stocklen won 6-0, 6-1 at fourth singles with some specifically aimed shots. At first doubles, Zielke and Abunaim continued to dominate, winning 6-0, 6-0 while Stocklen and Itani won in an eight-game pro-set (8-5).
"This was a great practice match for the team. We are excited and ready for our busy schedule next week. We have two important regional matches and one practice match against a four-year university to help prepare us," said head Coach Breanna Vollan.
